Rise + Microlearning + Embedding in Course

Just checked out the new microlearning feature in rise 360 and think its great. However, I didn't see anything about how to embed this in a rise 360 course (assumed you would be able to do this the same way you could embed a storyline project in a course). I was thinking this could be something for our college courses that would allow us to create pre-req content in the beginning of a course, however, I can't seem to see a way to make this happen.

    Hi Michele,

A microlearning is actually a standalone Rise course that exists of a single lesson.

Rise does not allow you to embed one Rise course within another.

Besides, if you go to the THEME tab / Navigation for your microlearning and switch the setting to Continuous navigation, your Lesson looks and behaves just like a regular Rise Lesson.

Hi, about microlearning, I was wondering: it is possible to embedd a microlearning inside a storyline?

      Hi Marco!

You can export the Microlearning as a Web-Only output, then embed this in a Storyline slide using a Web Object. When inserting the web object in Storyline, click the Browse (Folder) button, and locate and select the index.html file inside the exported Web-Only output folder.

Here's a sample of how Microlearning content looks when inserted as a Web Object in Storyline:

Let me know if this works for you, or if you have additional questions!

Thank you, Gren! After playing around with and trying out different ways of inserting the object, it worked perfectly! I just wanted to share a few steps after opening a blank project in sL 360:

    1. double-click/tap on the empty slide
    2. go to Insert tab
    3. in the Media group
      • select Web Object
    4. click/tap the browse folder icon
      • look for and select the content folder
    5. click/tap OK

Please note, you will need to Publish in Review 360 and add it as a sL block in your Rise course.  One last thing, I had to extract the downloaded file before inserting the microlearning object. I hope this helps :) Second last thing, you can't edit in sL. Woohoo! I love this!

    Hello,

We want to embed the Rise microlearning course on "Email Phishing" in an email to be sent to employees. We don't want a link as it is about phishing :-)

Is there a method to do this? LMS and intranet are not options here.

    Thank you for your help!

Hi there, Eric. Generally, most email clients don't support embedding web content within the body of an email. This article by an external service, Mailchimp, talks a little more about HTML in emails.

If others in the community have done this successfully, please share your approach!

  • Hello! I embedded a micro rise course into 360, but the text is small. Is there javascript that I could add to make it larger?

  • hi, I have been trying to add sections in a Rise 360 microlearning, so that learners can seamlessly navigate between 6 sections of the content. Is this not possible as it's a microlearning? If so, is there a way to easily change it from a microlearining to a course, without re-building it all, as it's near completion?

      Hi Leigh,

A Microlearning consists of a single Lesson, so you can't have Sections or a Quiz.

The functionality you are describing is found in a regular Rise course.

While there is no utility to convert a Microlearning to a regular Rise course it can be done quite easily:

      Access your Microlearning module.

Create a new Block Template and add all of the blocks in your Microlearning to the block template, and save it.

Create/go to your regular Rise 360 course and create/open the lesson where you want to copy the contents of your Microlearning module to.

Right below the lesson title, insert the newly created Block Template from the Block Template Library.

Hi Karl. Thanks for this but I dont seem to have the same functionality. I have created the templates from my microlearning, into block templates (and they are visible to my team), but when I am in the course, the only templates it allows me to select from are Articulate's own templates, not mine - sene help please, as this is driving me crazy and I am up against a deadline.
