1. The first issue you describe reminds me of this situation we encountered with LMSs who didn't update their settings to match a change that Chrome had made. Are you finding this behavior in Chrome? What about other browsers?
2. This second behavior isn't familiar to me. I wouldn't expect closing an independent browser tab would impact the course progress in Successfactors at all. Do you have an example course output that we can test in our LMS testing environment to see if we can reproduce the issue outside of Successfactors? We use SCORM Cloud, and you're welcome to try testing there as well.
