Screen Reader Accessibility for Button States
- 3 months ago
Hi, all!
I have some great news to share! We just released a new version of Storyline 360 (Update 103), which included a fix for the issue where screen readers didn't always announce the visited state of buttons or shapes.
To take advantage of this update, simply launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find step-by-step instructions here.
Please let us know if you have any questions by posting here or reaching out to our Support Engineers directly. We'll be happy to help!
Hi there Ria,
Thanks so much for letting us know what's going on. Are you using Storyline 360? We do have an issue on our radar where changing the Alt Text within states retains the original Alt Text for JAWS. I'm really sorry this is giving you headaches, and I'm glad you reached out. Knowing how many people this affects really helps us prioritize issues.
For now, try using shapes instead of buttons. For example, insert a rounded rectangle, and style it to look similar to the buttons you have already created. Add Alt Text to both the Normal and Selected states, and you should be good to go.
I hope this helps, and please reach out if you need any more help!
