Screen recording actions playing automatically despite triggers
- 1 day ago
Hi BMurray,
I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Build 3.119.37185.0, we’ve included important fixes. One of the bugs we fixed is:
- Screen recordings showed the wrong frames when viewed in Review 360
Since you found that downgrading to an earlier version resolved the issue, it appears you were affected by a regression that has now been addressed in the latest Storyline 360 release.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help.
Hi BMurray,
Sorry to hear that the playback behavior of your Storyline course unexpectedly changed.
If a repair of your Storyline installation doesn't do the trick, it would be helpful to see the affected .story file and test it on our end. Do you mind uploading a copy of your project here in the discussion or through a support case? In the meantime, I have some follow-up questions that can help us troubleshoot this better:
- Have you been authoring/publishing this file directly from a network or shared drive? If so, try moving the file to your local hard drive to see if the issue persists.
- Can you confirm there isn't a Trigger such as "Play media when Timeline starts" hiding on a base layer or Master Slide?
- Have you tried downgrading to an earlier version of Storyline to see if the behavior remains? We released Storyline Update 3.118.37034.0 about a week ago, coinciding with the timeline you've highlighted.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Steven,
I asked Microsoft Copilot for suggestions last night, and it said to try downgrading my version of Storyline to a version during the time period the course was working. I gave that a try and downgraded to a version from April and it did the trick! Everything went back to normal and worked fine. I hurried and got it published, and will re-install the most recent update before I start my next build.

Hello BMurray,
Excellent! I'm glad that Steven's suggestion of publishing using an earlier version of Storyline 360 did the trick! Thanks for letting us know.
Feel free to reach out in the community with future questions and discoveries!
