Screen Recording Won't Insert as Step by Step Slides

I'm having problems adding a screen recording as step by step slides. I'm working in SL360 and I can record my screen with no problems. It's when I click Insert to add the recording as step by step slides, the initializing process begins, it says "creating slide 1" and looks like all is working as it should, but part way through creating the slides, it just stops and the entire recording disappears. The recording isn't added to the scene and it isn't available in the saved screen recordings. It's like it just completely disappears altogether. My project file is saved locally so I'm not working off a network server. I've tried inserting a recording into the project as a single video and that works...but I don't want it as a single slide.  Any ideas on what is happening and how to fix it?

    if the single video recording is working fine have you tried then reusing the recording and inserting as step by step.

  • Hi Wendy, yes, good idea. I did start to use that as work around but my screen recording is about 3 minutes with a lot of clicks so I was hoping to troubleshoot it here instead of having to use that work around.  Thank you for suggesting.

    I'm sorry you've run into such trouble inserting your screen recording. Are you seeing this with every recording, or just that particular 3 min one you're trying to insert? 

    Since you already checked that you're working on local project files you may also want to look at repairing Storyline (especially if it's every screen recording) and check that you're on the latest update of Storyline 360, which is currently Update 15.

    I am having the same issue no matter what I do.  I have updated SL360, created a new project, tried to re-record... still happening.  I have scoured the community and it seems to happen to others with no clear resolution.
