Sequence interaction without drag and drop: any tips?

Hello,

Do you have any ideas or examples for an interaction where the user puts items in order without drag and drop? We are not using drag and drop because of accessibility requirements. Typically, the scenario is to put steps in order. I have tried showing a base layer where the learner selects a step from a button set, a slider, or a dial. The step has a trigger that shows a layer with the choices. (For example, choose either "Open the cabinet," "Take out a glass," "Put the glass on the counter.") When the user chooses one of the descriptions, the step on the base layer displays that label.

This design functions but creates clutter on the slide. I'd appreciate any tips to improve this interaction. Thanks!

  • Yes, but it allows you to select a choice more than once. That doesn't work when you're supposed to end up with X number of unique steps. Thanks for the idea!
