Slider won't show values during setup

I'm setting up my very first slider and I can't even get the text box to show the %Slider1% that the tutorial shows will happen after selecting Reference. What am I doing wrong? Looks too simple to fail. I've tried over and over and all I get is a zero or 1 or wherever the slide button is positioned.

    Hello MT Russell,

    Good question. We recently updated the way we display variables. Instead of the entire name of the variable, we show the value. That helps you see how it will actually lay out on the screen. The process is still the same, but the display is different. Here's a quick explanation if you're interested.
