Storyline : closed captions out of sync
Hi AndreasKuswa675,
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand the audio doesn't match up with the video when imported into Storyline. I'm happy to help and have a few troubleshooting questions to get started.
- Did you record the audio in Storyline or was it part of the original video?
- Does this happen in preview mode and when published?
- Have you tried importing your slides into a new Storyline project?
If you're willing to share your file, I'd be happy to take a closer look. You can upload it here or privately in a support case!
The SME recorded the video using MS PowerPoint, which automatically placed it on the slides. When I import the PowerPoint presentation into Storyline, the video is also imported.
I then attempted to detach and save the video from PowerPoint before importing it, and then I inserted the video as a separate file into the Storyline slides; however, it is still out of sync, quite noticeably.
I then asked the SME to record the video as a separate file outside of PowerPoint and imported it individually into Storyline. The problem is fixed.
I'm not sure why this is happening, as the video plays perfectly fine when I play it back in PowerPoint or just the media file using a media player.

Thanks for that clarification, AndreasKuswa675. Do you notice the same behavior if you try importing into a brand new Storyline file? I'm curious if you import the PowerPoint slides one at a time if there's a difference in what happens with the video syncing.
If possible, it would be helpful to take a closer look at those PowerPoint and Video files to see if we are experiencing this out-of-sync behavior as well. It would be best to share this in a support case!

I imported a new project into Storyline 360 (x64) using the Import | Import PowerPoint option from the Welcome screen. When I played the presentation back in PowerPoint, the lips were in sync. I will submit a support case referencing this discussion thread.
For the current project, I asked the subject matter expert (SME) to send me separate video files. However, I would like to resolve the syncing issue because I need to collaborate with other SMEs who are heavy PowerPoint users. They are likely to cooperate if they can complete their parts of the project in PowerPoint.

Hi AndreasKuswa675,
Thank you for sharing your PowerPoint file in a support case.
I see that my colleague, Carlo, helped identify a possible issue with the PowerPoint file. To fix the issue, instead of inserting the video from the Insert Tab of PowerPoint, he saved the videos from the project file to the C: drive and reimported them from the Articulate Tab of Presenter 360.
Let's continue the conversation in your support case to keep all the information in one place, but I'm happy to assist further as needed!
