Storyline 360 Video Compression Issues

I have always created MP4s in Camtasia and imported to Storyline 360 with no issues. Recently however, whenever I insert a video, the Compression setting is grayed out and set to Automatic. Normally, I would set this to None.

I typically get a large MP4 from a client and then break it down into smaller clips using Camtasia. Could it be something to with the videos I am getting from my client?

      Maria,

So, I found the problem. I had inserted an image into the Camtasia project
and that image was much larger than the canvas size of 1920x1080. I believe
the result of that is that when Camtasia was rendering the MP4, it had to
compress/alter that image to make it fit within the canvas. As a result,
when I imported the MP4 into Storyline, my guess is that Storyline
interpreted this as a profile that it doesn't support. So, I recaptured
that image as 1920x1080, rendered the video again, and then imported it
into Storyline, and viola, I could now select None in the Compression
      window.

Does all that sound right or did I just get lucky as hell and my rationale
      is completely off base?

  • Hi John,

Thanks for the follow-up and for sharing your solution! It's possible that the original video didn't have the right profile for Storyline.

I'm glad the recapture worked. If you run into this again, you can also share your video with our team to take a closer look!
