Storyline Text Entry Question Does Not Display User Text As Answer Is Typed

I have created a test based on a screen recording in order to train new hires at our organization on our use of the Salesforce platform. For one step of the assessment, the user must type the answer "Test Implementation" into a specific field in order to get the "question" correct.

The screen recording tool captured this successfully as a text entry question, but the issue is that when a learner types their answer into the field, their text does not appear as they are typing it. However, when the user presses "Enter," Articulate will grade the input successfully - if the user typed the correct answer "Test Implementation" then they will get credit, but if they typed anything else then they will be prompted to try again. So in the current state of the test, the user has to hope that they didn't accidentally make any typos in the name because they're not able to see what they are typing in real-time and the field remains blank regardless of what the user types.

I've searched the forums here and elsewhere to find a fix, but I can't find this issue being experienced by anyone else. I'm attaching a simplified version of the assessment, the text entry question for which I am experiencing this issue is on slide 1.3.

Can anyone help me change this so that the text entry question shows what the user has typed in the field as it is typed, before the user submits the answer?

  • If you check your file the text entry field size and position is set 1x1 and -971x22 so it is almost invisible and not on the slide, you can reposition it and it will then show

That was it sure enough! Very strange because I had not interacted with the text entry field at all after importing the screen recording, so by default, Storyline made it 1 pixel and far outside of the visible slide content. Great catch!
