Storyline Update - Submit Button
Hello,
I really like the update. The modern player looks very clean and I would like to use it for all of my courses. I do have one issue with this player though. For quizzes, the "submit" check mark (which replaced the submit button) is not very obvious. If I was a user taking courses for the first time, I would have no idea what to do once I was ready to submit a quiz. I obviously can make a custom shape with triggers that could take care of this for me, but I am just curious if this could be tweaked a little bit to be more clear. I have attached a picture with what I am referring to if anyone was curious.
I'm not really expecting this to change, but I just thought I would bring it others attention so they can hopefully remove any confusion for their users.

Leslie, I agree with the other folks here. I think our suggestion would be something large please that doesn't get overlooked. I had trouble finding it myself and just got feedback that the quiz didn't work from the person reviewing the content because he couldn't find the submit check mark. Yes, I've changed it but I think a better solution is for the icon only to be more obvious so we don't have to choose the other if we don't want it throughout. My two cents. Have a great day!
Thanks, Susan, for sharing your experience as well. Your feedback is what helps us make Storyline even better. We'll post here if there are any changes to the Player Submit button options down the road!

I have just rolled out a whole heap of e-learning assessments to more than 200 users - and the biggest complaint is the size and location of the submit button.
Is there any plans to enlarge this at all or allow us to edit where the button is placed. Down the bottom right hand corner is not always suitable.
Also, is there a way to press the enter key instead of having to drag the mouse down and click submit? (with this already programmed button). What is the process for this, are there any known issues and does anyone have an example of how they have explained this process to their learners?
Thank you :)

Hi, Tania! Have you tried providing your own custom submit button instead of using the one in the player?

Thanks Gerry - Sure I can do that (and noticed you can submit interactions with a key or click etc) which is great. It's just a shame there I have to set up on each slide and feedback slide individually. My quizzes have around 50 questions/slides so it just gets fiddly.

My team, too, found the checkmark too difficult for learners to be able to identify or locate for submitting an interaction. While enabling text and icon works on computer and tablet views, the text doesn't display with the icon on the phone views. When set to text-only, the phone views revert to the icon and don't show the text, either.
As a workaround, we're going with an on-screen submit button for every quiz interaction slide.

Ditto... At least allow the checkmark to be edited so that it can be moved and/or allow you to use your own pic. It's annoying

Has this been resolved? I have one slide out of 50 that has this submit button. Drag and drop question.
Hello Natalie!
Our team is still investigating this feature request to change the size of the submit button when using the Modern Player. When I have an update, I'll be sure to report back to this discussion.
Thank you for taking the time to check in!

Hello Lauren,
I'm sure you guys have already discussed this but I feel like something as simple as highlighting the submit button with a box would help. This combined with centering it, I believe would immediately draw users to that button. Another issue I've had with the built-in Next/Previous/Submit buttons is users not seeing these buttons if they have their browser/program in windowed mode. Obviously this is primarily a user error but I think centering/highlighting the buttons could help.
I generally prefer making my own quizzes and submit/next buttons for all of my courses and disabling the built-in ones. Sometimes I have complicated quizzes with a lot of information on the screen and I prefer to keep my slide as clean as possible and use the built-in button. I would love to feel more confident using this button because it would speed up my process as well as keep my slides as clean as possible.
I've attached a very poorly made example of what this could look like :D

Hi Wes,
Thanks for taking the time to share the additional insight and even creating a mock-up!
I'll be sure to add your comments and this image to the feature request report we currently have to give greater detail on what you'd like to see. We'll be sure to jump back in here if we have any changes to the current setup!

Like many of the other posters here, we found the check mark alone difficult to spot at first, and even after adding the text, "Submit" is far too small and subtle. In order to make this more user-friendly and save course developers tons of time, please add some formatting options for this button.
In the meantime, I'll be adding custom buttons to every single interaction.
