Submit Results Trigger

Can someone explain to me what the Submit Results Trigger does.  I see it on the results slides, but I can't find any explanation for its purpose.

  • Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone could help me out?

So for some reason anytime one of my users reviews their answers then returns to the results slide my LMS seems to be recording this as an additional quiz attempt which isn't ideal from a recording stand point.

The only thing I can think of is when the user is returned to the results slide after reviewing their answers the "Submit Results" trigger sends new information each time, which the LMS records as an additional attempt (This could be completely wrong).

Anyway, has anyone else had this issue before or could help out at all?

I've attached my course if that helps...

  • Hi Niall,

I can see that you’re still struggling with LMS reporting since you reached out here and in this other discussion. I’d love to help.  Can you take a look at the questions I asked in the other discussion? We can keep the conversation going over there!

  • My company uses Skillsoft as our LMS and I am having trouble with the "course/quiz" showing as completed on their end. They said it was due to the course not having a competition result and said to check my file. I have checked my file and from what I can see, I have "Complete" trigger and an "Exit" trigger. Has anyone worked with Skillsoft before?

I've attached the file just in case it's easier to see what was created and if I missed a step.

      Hi Nancy

I published your course to LMS and uploaded to SCORMcloud to test it.  I passed the course and the Completed course flag displays.

Hopefully someone who uses Skillsoft may be able to shed more light, however your SL file appears to be setup correctly.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your assistance and guidance. I am hoping that someone from Skillsoft will be able to assist. I will provide your feedback in the hopes of getting more clarification from them.

      Hi Nancy,

Are you looking to see the users' score in Skillsoft as well? If you're tracking by the complete course trigger, we won't send the quiz results too, as Storyline will only track/send one completion status. I saw you had a quiz and results slide in there, so you may want to confirm with Skillsoft what you should be using to pass completion to the LMS.

  • I have a quiz I'm working on but in the trigger to submit results, it is remaining as "unassigned" and won't let me assign the quiz results slide. Any ideas why?

      Hi Theresa

hard to say without seeing your file. Can you share it?  If not,

      • check that quiz questions/quiz bank has been added to the result slide
      • check that the trigger to submit results is referencing the correct object.
  • Thanks for responding. I closed Storyline then opened it again the problem went away. I've noticed that happens from time to time -- where Storyline can be a little finicky.

  • I am having an issue with reviewing my test.

I had to remove the "Submit Results" trigger before reviewing for LMS reporting purposes. The results slide calculates and indicates the score (and whether they were successful or failed) but when I trigger a review, the questions are all shown as "wrong" with none of the user's answers shown.

    Any suggestions to fix this?

      Hello Mary-Frances!

We can help! It would be easiest to take a look at your project to get a better understanding of what you've created. Do you mind attaching the .story file to this discussion or uploading it privately in a support case?
