Template downloaded - problem - my navigation buttons being hidden

For question 1, does your project file have custom navigation buttons placed on the slide that are getting covered up by the blocks? If so, you can place those custom navigation buttons at the top of the timeline to make sure that they do not get covered up by any of the blocks.
For question 2, you can right-click anywhere on the slide and select Format Background from the dropdown menu to bring up the menu that will allow you to customize the background of the slide.
