Text blinking
Hi there, I just signed up for the free trial version in order to get used to this program. When I write in the text box, the text starts to blink automatically. It is really disturbing not to see the whole text while editing. I've already uninstalled and install it twice but it is still the same...
Thanks a lot for your help!

Ugh, this is frustrating. I contacted support and got a list of things to do:
May I know if you happen to have gone through this article to ensure you followed the standard recommendations when working with Storyline 360 on a Mac with Parallels: https://articulate.com/support/article/using-articulate-software-on-a-mac-with-parallels-desktop
Most cases with issues like this are environment-related issues like outdated graphics driver or they’re running an older OS version which does not utilize DirectX 11 in the Guest OS.
Is the 16GB of RAM you mentioned, the allocated RAM for the virtual machine? Or is that the overall RAM you have in your Macbook? If ever you’ve only allocated 2GB of RAM to the virtual machine, try increasing it and see if the problem gets fixed.
Also, in Parallels 16 there is some improved support for graphics in macOS 10.14 Mojave and later. So, in case you’re running an older macOS version, I’d like to recommend you get an update if possible.
So far I've done pretty much everything on the linked page and still have blinking text. Now I am updating my High Sierra to Catalina. Here are my specs (obvi will be Catalina in about 30 minutes...)
I am running the trial and am in the middle of classes that use Articulate. I have my work saved on my drive, so I am not really worried about that. But I am worried that somehow I will not be able to reinstall my Articulate trial (which I haven't done yet, but am supposed to have done, I just learned, after disconnecting the shared folders.
SIGH. Maybe I will have to break down and buy a PC for this career. Please someone talk me down from that ledge and tell me that Mac/Catalina/Parallels CAN work smoothly and FAST (because it's also really slow, too). - SteveBradleyCommunity Member
Add me to the list of frustration. I, too, have blinking text. Been using Storyline for years. Never had this issue before. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upgrading to Catalina solved it for me. But I’m still dealing with pretty unbearable slowness/lagging.
Good luck!

I too am experiencing this after a scheduled update to Storyline. I'm running Mac OS High Sierra v. 10.13.6 with Parallels on Windows 10. Any fixes for this other than updating the whole dang OS?
- LynLucovskyCommunity Member
I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same configuration as you, and upgrading to Catalina fixed it for me with no speed issues.
Hi Nicole,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing that you're experiencing a similar issue.
It looks like Katie explained the why above and that updating was able to help her as well as Lyn above:
In Parallels 16 there is some improved support for graphics in macOS 10.14 Mojave and later.
You're welcome to work directly with our team as well if needed. You can contact them directly here.

Hello everyone,
After updating to the latest Storyline360 version, I too have the same annoying problem of blinking text when trying to edit it. It really makes it impossible to edit text this way.
I have a MacBook Pro with MacOS High Sierra, a Windows 10 Enterprise machine with Parallel Desktop 16 for Mac Pro Edition. Updating to Catalina is absolutely NOT an option for me as I have some 32-bit apps (for example Adobe InDesign CS6) that won't run in the new operating system. Updating to Mojave "could" be possible if that's the only solution (32-bit app still "work" in Mojave) but I'd rather not do that either, as apparently 32-bit apps functionalities could be reduced or they could crash a lot.
Any fixes for me ?
Thanks in advance!

But Articulate is also a 32-bit program, right? Or does that not really count because it’s running through Parallels or whatnot? Sorry, I can’t help. The Catalina upgrade was a godsend. Articulate REALLY needs to make a Mac version.
Good luck,
Katie- RosariaMarra104Community Member
Hi Katie, it doesn't really matter whether Articulate is a 32-bit program or 64 because I have it installed on Windows and I access the virtual machine via Parallel. But if I need to update to Catalina on the Mac part of my laptop in order to fix the blinking text issue, than I have a huge problem because I'll loose the 32-bit programs that runs on my Mac partition. I agree with you, there should be a Mac version for Articulate or, at least, the good functioning of Storyline should not be dependant of what Mac operative system you have on your computer in case you use a virtual machine!

Hi There,
I no longer need help with this. I upgraded to Catalina, and that solved the problem for me. Thanks!
Katie
Thanks for confirming, Katie :)

So, is there even a solution for this? Anyone?
- RosariaMarra104Community Member
Hi Alba and Nejc,
I was able to "solve" the issue by disabling the modern text feature. Go to the Design tab, click the Fonts drop-down list, and deselect Use Modern Text at the bottom.
It worked for me, not sure it will work for you too, it really depends on what's causing the issue. For me it "might" be the fact that I am using a virtual machine.
Give it a try and hopefully it'll work for you too
Best

Thank you so much for this! This worked for me as well. I am using Parallels on Mac iOS, and this was the only thing that helped!

Thank you, Rosaria, it bloody works!
Drinks are on me. :)
