Text Box and Enter

I was working on a separate slide all together.  While in preview and after uploading to our LMS, now my text entry slides are not working.  Instead of going to the hint slide if typed incorrectly and pressing enter or going to the next slide after typing correctly and pressing enter, the cursor now goes to the next line in the text box after pressing Enter.  It was working fine.  I know I did an update on Articulate Friday.  Can anyone explain what is going on?

  • I figured out what happened. When I updated my Storyline with the May 2023 updates, the update placed a check mark on the wrap text option for all my text entries.  I unclicked the Wrap text box and everything is working as it should now.

    Ensure Text Wrapping

Follow these steps to enable text wrapping for text-entry fields, depending on your version of Storyline.

    • In the May 2023 update and later for Storyline 360, right-click the text-entry field and choose Format Shape. Select the Text Box tab on the left side of the window that appears, then mark the Wrap text box.
    • In Storyline 3 and earlier builds of Storyline 360, increase the height of your text-entry field to 61 pixels or more.

  • Hello Vasnessa - Have you tried shortening the height of your text entry boxes?

Hi Ron, when I shorten the height, then you can't see all of the text. When I am pressing Enter, it is going to a second line in the text box.  After pressing Enter, the triggers aren't working anymore when the learner types an incorrect or correct answer

Hi Vanessa and Steven.  This is happening to me as I was very pleased to see Vanessa had found the solution.  However, I have the Upgrade Project Text enabled so I do not get the Wrap Text option to uncheck.  Any ideas on how I can fix the problem?  Without having to open a new file and importing the slides into it?

      Hi Wendy,

So it looks like when we enable the Upgrade Project Text, Articulate creates a backup copy (See attached screenshot).   The file will have the same name with _backup added to the name of the file.  Hope you can find the backup copy.

Thank you, Vanessa.  Since we made changes to the project after enabling the upgrade project text that backup is not helpful.  We decided to just revert to the previous version because we are on a deadline and that seems to work.  I wonder if someone from Articulate would have a solution for a fix using the upgrade project text.
