Text box moving when previewed
My text box is centered in a shape on my slide. It does include some returns and tabs, as well as variables (though it doesn't appear the variables are affecting anything). When I preview the slide, everything shifts and is no longer centered inside the shape. Any thoughts why this might be happening or how I can fix it?

Hi Rebekah,
I believe this is due to how Storyline renders certain fonts when it is previewed or published. Notice the text looks a little more bold in the preview and a little fuzzy. I suggest trying a different font. I'm not sure which are best. you can probably find some posts about the best ones to use.

It's just weird because it's the standard MS Calibri font, and I haven't experienced any problems with the rest of the course. :-/
I just tried changing the font to Articulate, and encountered the same issue.
Hi Rebekah,
Do you have your DPI set to 96?If not, it's really easy to fix, and this article explains how.
If that doesn't solve your issue with the text, please submit a Support case.

Thanks. I checked the setting and it was normal. I submitted a support case (00352361).
Thanks Rebekah, I'll follow along in your case!

I heard back on my support case. Long story short, no solution at the moment. Can I post the response here?
Absolutely Rebekah! In fact, I'll go ahead and share it for you:
We were able to duplicate the issue you reported. Having variable references in a textbox will remove the formatting of all the text in the text box.
Unfortunately, we were unable to determine a workaround. We have reported this issue to our Quality Assurance team for their review. I cannot offer a time frame for when or if this issue will be addressed. I would recommend, at this time, to take a different approach so that you continue working on your project.- Joseperez-eb6d7Community Member
Hi, 9 years later im having the same problem, do you have a new solution?
Hi Bernardo,
Sorry to hear that you ran into a similar behavior. I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience:
- Are you working locally when previewing or publishing your project file?
- Do you have the scale and layout settings of your monitor set to 100%?
- Are you able to replicate the behavior when you switch the font that your course uses to a standard one like Arial?
- Have you tried importing your project's slides over to a new project file?
If the issue persists after trying the troubleshooting steps above, would you mind uploading a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at the behavior? We'll delete it as soon as we're done troubleshooting!
