Text boxes in PowerPoint converting to pictures in Storyline

Hello, does anyone have advice on how to stop text boxes within my PowerPoint turning into picture boxes in storyline once the PowerPoint has been imported? Thanks.

  • Hello Rachel!

I'm happy to help! Objects like SmartArt Graphics and Non-Native Shapes will be imported as graphics from PowerPoints into Storyline 360. Here's more information about how each object renders in Storyline 360.

Are you importing the PowerPoint into Storyline 360 or copying the PowerPoint slides into Storyline 360? Here's more information on how to import PowerPoints into Storyline 360.

I'm happy to take a look at your project if you want to attach it to this discussion. If you feel more comfortable sharing the file privately, here's my direct link.

It happens when you import slides as well. I have found that it happens most often when the PPT slide has lots of text, small font size, side by side text boxes, or text boxes and graphics combined. This is one I brought in yesterday - the title came through as text and everything else is one image. I usually "un-pretty" the PPT slides so that the text is big enough to come across and then re-format it in Storyline.

  • Hi, is there any update to that? We experience the same issue (with slides with a lot of text) and don't know how to solve it.

    Thanks for your help

      Hi BS Learning Technology SIT!

Sorry to hear you've run into this setback!

Importing PowerPoint content into Storyline isn't a one-to-one conversion. As a result, text may look a bit different as Storyline will scale the slide items to fit into the new slide size. For the best results, we suggest changing your slide size in Storyline to match your PowerPoint size before importing.

If you're still having trouble, seeing a screen recording of the issue as well as the PPT file, would be helpful. Feel free to share those items here in the discussion or privately through a support case.
