Text to speech speed
Hello Guys, i think Articulate Storyline needs to improve the text to speech features, so that we are able to adjust the speed of the narrator. because all the narrators (voices), are really too fast, and in order to make it some how slower, we have to add punch of commas; which make the sound very annoying but understandable.
It will also be great , to make the narration speed in a slider (from 1 to 10)not drop-down list (slow, medium, fast).
Thanks
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 83, we've included important fixes and new features!
One of the new features we've included:
- Unlock new possibilities for text-to-speech audio. Use speech synthesis markup language (SSML) to adjust the speaking rate, modify pronunciation, emphasize words, add pauses, and more.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

Please count my voice too for control on slowing down. Thank you.

I've been struggling with making the voice sound less robotic as well. There has to be an easier way than adding alot of commas, periods, and spaces.
Thanks!

I have had to resort to using an external TTS engine for mine now, which I hate to do, because otherwise Articulate's is great. I like the voices, the way they sound, the ability to make changes easily, but they just speak too quickly for my audiences. I found a free engine that has 20 speed options, but making a file there and importing it isn't ideal, especially when changes need to be made.
I think the number of responses to these threads is evidence that it is a worthwhile enhancement! I appreciate the forum for requesting this, and that it has given us an opportunity to share the timing 'hacks', which has been quite helpful, but since I have to give a lot of information to a crowd for whom English is not their first language, I really need that ability to have the audio track play slowly and clearly.

Just so the chorus keeps getting stronger - 'Text-to-speech' speed alteration feature would be a great addition to Storyline!

I am interested in being able to adjust the speed of the narration as well.

Adding speed alteration to the text to speech feature will add value to an already great tool to create online courses. Thank you for everything you do to make our lives easier!!

Supporting SSML tags would be a nice benefit, too and would give more granular control.

Same here - adapting voice speed is crucial. In addition, we create modules in several languages, and in languages like German...added punctuation is voiced so the cheats don't work for me unfortunately

I'm chiming in here so that I will receive updates. The last post was over a year ago. When can we expect some options for slowing down the text to voice?
Hi Lesli,
Thanks for checking in on this feature and letting us know it's important to you! We continue to keep an eye on requests and current usage in Articulate 360. It's not bubbled up to the top of our roadmap yet, but we'll let folks know if that changes.
