Text to speech speed
Hello Guys, i think Articulate Storyline needs to improve the text to speech features, so that we are able to adjust the speed of the narrator. because all the narrators (voices), are really too fast, and in order to make it some how slower, we have to add punch of commas; which make the sound very annoying but understandable.
It will also be great , to make the narration speed in a slider (from 1 to 10)not drop-down list (slow, medium, fast).
Thanks
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 83, we've included important fixes and new features!
One of the new features we've included:
- Unlock new possibilities for text-to-speech audio. Use speech synthesis markup language (SSML) to adjust the speaking rate, modify pronunciation, emphasize words, add pauses, and more.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

Hi, new to using Articulate but we have created and tested some material and we are also in need of more control on speed of text to speech. This was the only negative feedback that we had from our test group on our new material. More natural voices and more choice in other languages would also be great.

Hi,
I wanted to be added to this request. The text to audio is awesome but the pace and is a little too fast for learner to catch up. Can we look into having control? The punctuation does not works all the time and it distorts the sentence. Please let us know of the update.

Also adding my name as the speed is too fast and would love to be able to control easier and add intonation at certain points. thanks

I realize its been a while, but wondering if anything is moving forward on this. I love the idea of slider.

This becomes an accessibility issue for the content consumers. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

I agree with all, Storyline needs some method to slow down the text-to-speech narrations. I use Amazon Polly with its SSML coding to create text-to-speech narrations.

I assume you are referring to computer-generated speech when you talk about speeding up/slowing down the text-to-speech. Do you find that computer generated speech holds your users' attention sufficiently?

Barry,
I use images, videos, and Doodly to tell short stories and case studies at a nursing college. Yes, it keeps the students’ attention.

I don’t know that the attention is the issue, the issue is it is taking a ton of time inputting punctuation to slow the text to speech down. All of the choices for text to speech at time speak way to fast, users are needing to rewind to make sure they are hearing them properly. It would help to have some kind of slider that creators could slow the speech down were needed.
I hope that makes sense. Looking at the community discussions, it seems I’m not the only one having this issue.
If there is some way this could be addressed it would be appreciated!
Thanks!
