The player's replay button is not replaying the audio when revisiting.

I have a menu that the learner returns to after each lesson. When they revisit the slide, the audio does not replay if they select the replay button on the player. The animations move when revisiting and when clicking the replay button but the audio does not. There are no layers just buttons that send the learner to a new slide when selected.

If I drag the seek bar, the audio will replay.

I do not have any audio triggers that could be affecting the replay button.  I only want the audio to play if they select replay.

I have the slide properties set at resumed saved state, so the audio does not replay each time they visit the slide.

The client does not want a button added to start and stop the audio.

  • Hi Farrsaway!

What you’re seeing is expected when a slide is set to Resume saved state.

When a learner returns to the slide, Storyline restores it to the exact point where they left off. Because of that, the Replay button restarts the timeline animations, but it doesn’t always replay slide audio unless the playhead moves back to where the audio begins. That’s why dragging the seekbar causes the audio to play again.

Here are a couple of things you can try:

    • Move the audio slightly off the start of the timeline
      • Start the audio around 0.1–0.25 seconds instead of exactly at 0 seconds. That small offset can sometimes help the Replay button trigger the audio again.
    • Use a trigger instead of timeline audio
      • Add a trigger that says “Play media when timeline starts.” When Replay restarts the timeline, that trigger should fire and play the audio again.

Out of curiosity, does the audio play normally the first time the learner visits the slide?
