TIP: Let the user choose their path
The attached file demonstrates how to let users choose a unique path through a course based on their role or other circumstances.
It includes two methods:
- How to navigate when the user can only select 1 option.
- How to navigate when the user could select more than 1 option.
Notes
The built-in Menu is not shown in the demo file. That's because Storyline can't rebuild the menu based on which path is selected.
Both methods use trigger conditions and variables. It’s worth the effort to learn about those, because they provide the real power in Storyline. Here’s more information:
- This post provides an overview of variables. It also links to numerous resources. The Value of Variables | Articulate - Community
- The User Guide articles about triggers include some about conditions. Storyline 360: Working with Triggers | Articulate - Community

It would be great to have an area on the Articulate site where these examples can be posted, so that users can easily find them, otherwise they do get a bit buried.

SamHill : The new community does have a "Share Examples" area, but I don't think my TIPs fit in with what's there. Plus most of them were posted before the switch to this site.
I've tagged my TIPs with "Advice." Unfortunately, many folks use that tag when they're looking for advice, so filtering discussions on "Advice" doesn't help much.
FYI: I posted most of my TIPs as a way to answer recurring questions in the community. Sometimes folks do find them when searching. But, mostly, they find them because I link back to them when replying. (Linking is much easier than re-explaining.)
One thing I miss about the old site is the way it would display someone's original posts on their profile page. I'd give folks a link to my profile as a quick way to access my Tips. I'd even locate them that way. It's still possible to find them via the poorly named "Newest Topics" tab. But that's just not as convenient. Now I have a Word file with the links, so I can find them when needed. 😁

Ah, there is. Thanks.
Yes, it would be good to get that feature back (sharing profile link).
Thanks for the explanation.
