TOC Menu and Branching

My SMEs have asked that the table of contents be accessible in my slides to allow the learners to navigate back if they need to. I start with it collapsed so they only see it if they need it. The SMEs like to use it to navigate to make sure they have reviewed every slide, but with a branching scenario, the TOC doesn't match the order of things.

How have people handled this? Do you label the slides branch 1a, 1b, 1c? Can I do something with indents? Looking for ideas. Thanks!

  • Branching scenarios are great for learning. As you discovered, though, they don't work well in the built-in Menu.

I suggest keeping the initial slide of a scenario in the Menu, but deleting the branches. That way, if someone wants to return to the scenario, they have to go to its start. (Ideally, they'd be able to retake it.)

By the way, also consider moving the Menu so it's opened via a Player tab on top of the slides (instead of being in a panel on the left). To me, that makes it accessible but unobtrusive.

That's a great idea to delete the branching from the menu! I totally agree with you about SMEs following the navigation pathing. Like the learners, they discover things and it messes up your intention.

How do you set the menu to open on the Player Tab? Do you have an image of that JudyNollet ?

Use the arrow buttons to move the Menu from the Sidebar to the Topbar.
