Translation in Rise 360

Hi -- I am trying to get a sense of how long it actually takes for this process... So I admit I am currently just exploring.   I did follow the steps - duplicated my course, exported to xliff file (which I cannot find an app to download so I can see it) -- but that's OK:  I used SmartCat -- very cool, which you can export to XLFF file, as well as CSV (so you can actually read it and see the translations -- very helpful.)

I have now imported the Spanish version of the xlff file (from SmartCat) into my new Spanish-version course - And it says "Import Successful."     For now, I will not bother with the label adjustments.

But It is not appearing to have imported the Spanish text/xlff file -- even though it says 'Import Successful.'    Am I missing a step?? Do I have to convert the labels before anything translates?  Thanks for any insight!

C.

  • Hi Colleen,

I went ahead and created a case for you so that we can investigate why the text in your Rise course is not changing after importing the translated XLIFF.  You should receive a response soon.

For reference, you can also open a case here.

  • Any update on this? I have had a similar issue where it just keeps saying processing and nothing ever completes.

I deleted the downloaded XLIFF version and then went back into my duplicated course, redownloaded it and reconverted it. I'm not sure what hung up the first time, but it worked when I redownloaded, reconverted and reuploaded everything.

  • Hi Traci,

Sorry to hear that you ran into similar behavior.

I opened a support case on your behalf so we can get you in touch with our support team. They'll be able to troubleshoot the issue with you and identified what's going on. Someone should reach out to you momentarily.

  • Hi Traci, when you reconverted it, what format was that in? Myself and colleagues have had the same issue for the last week where I upload an xliff and it says 'processing' forever and nothing happens.

Hi Claire! Your translated file should be in XLIFF version 2.0 or .xlf file format. Have you tried canceling the upload and trying it again? If you continue to encounter issues uploading your translated file, I would suggest opening a support case here so that we can further investigate the matter. Our engineers will be more than happy to help. You may attach a copy of the original exported .xlf file and the translated one for testing purposes.

  • So funny (not funny) I had forgotten all about this post... and it is happening again.  I posted the question/issue yesterday.  Just keeps processing for hours -- Have deleted / stopped / tried again / shut down computer / assured correct file type. Still not completing the process.  I sent in a request for support and hope to hear from someone today - WIll update when a solution is found.
