Try Again Score Variable: Feature request
I would like to be able to set the try again score value.
The purpose for this is so that I can set the number of attempts to 2, 5, 10, unlimited, or whatever I want, and the points to whatever I want, but they get fewer points the more times they have to try again. This could be done simply if I could change the score variable on a try again layer to -1. Then if the question is worth 10 points, they'll still get 10 points when they get it right, but if they got it wrong 3 times, they will have also gotten -3 points leading to a total of 7/10.
I've made some simulations where I do essentially that, but I can't use the built-in scores for it which makes it difficult to report in the LMS.

That's an interesting suggestion, Drew. FYI The link below goes to the page for making an official feature request. Submitting a request there doesn't mean Articulate will act on it. But at least it gets put on their "think about this" list.

BTW, you could use built-in scoring for your custom try-again questions. You just have to hide the actual multiple-choice responses, which would be individually scored, with one selected via a trigger that checks the number of attempts.
This post is about using that sort of disguised multiple-choice question to give partial credit on a multiple-response question. But it should get you started with how you could reduce points based on the number of attempts.

Thank you for the links Judy. I was looking for that feature-request spot, but must not have looked hard enough!

I've bookmarked the feature-request (https://articulate.com/support/contact/feature-request ) and submit-a-case (https://articulate.com/support/contact/360-teams ) pages, so I can share those links when appropriate—and use them myself, when needed.
