Skip ahead feature
I attended the Quick Tips and Tricks episode #125. This episode announced a new feature called 'Skip ahead' that is offered using the quiz feature. It's a great enhancement and can't wait to begin using it for pre-test options.
I immediately thought of another scenario where something like this would be useful, 'Choose Your Role'. I'm faced with many situations where the course is taken by a diverse audience, however certain content may not be applicable for the entire audience. Although Storyline can support, what I refer to as "branching" paths, this is difficult in RISE.
Unfortunately, the new RISE feature doesn't allow customization where I could update what is visible to the learner so it doesn't appear as a quiz. I would assume similar coding could by used for a "Choose your role" block. Based on the learner's selection from the options provided, it would either take the user to the very next lesson or to a lesson that developer chooses.
I'm going to look into creating a customer block with coding to support my need but it would be great if it was considered for a new block option.
Thanks for sharing this idea, DebClemons, and thanks as well to DShaw and Judy for offering alternative approaches.
I can see how a role-based path selection feature would be helpful when building training for multiple audiences. While there are ways to create branching experiences in Rise 360 today, I understand the value of having a more streamlined option that allows learners to identify their role and automatically follow the content most relevant to them.
I've shared your feedback with our product team. We appreciate you taking the time to explain your use case and how this would improve the learner experience.

DebClemons Maybe you could use a button stack, a button for each role, and point the button trigger to the relevant lesson for each role

DebClemons: As DShaw said, you can use button blocks for navigation to control the paths a user can follow.
This solution comes with some caveats, which are listed in this post about Branching in Rise. The post also links to a published Rise course that demonstrates and explains the settings used for branching.
