Using ChatGPT to write JavaScript for Storyline 360

So, I'm not a JavaScript guru, in fact I hardly know anything about it other than the basics. I wanted to see if having a conversation with chatGPT, could get it, him, her or whatever, to generate the script for me.  It took some trial and error and I had to be very exact with my descriptions of what I wanted the JavaScript to achieve, but in the end we got there. The three scripts in the attached story file, are the result of about a 20 minute chat for the first and then about ten minutes for the other two. You will need to forgive my variable naming, as I said I'm not a JavaScript guru, but I guess you could change them if you wanted to.

I might add more convertors to this in due course and update the story file so if you find these useful, check in every now and then.

If you are a JavaScript guru and you find any glaring errors in the scripts I would love to have your feedback.

  • Hi Joe, it would be worth letting people know in the description what the convertors convert (what their function is), as it will be searchable and may be what somebody is looking for.

Thank you Sam, given the post is mainly about using chatGPT to write the JavaScript I've changed the title to that effect.

  • I second Sam's request. Are you offering converters that convert something I might want to convert? Or is this a tutorial on how to get ChatGPT to write a script?
