Video Captions not appearing on embedded video

I have added a video to one of my slides and imported the captions to the video.  When I view the slide the captions don't appear on the video area but instead show in the bottom of the slide.  Because the video is only part of the layout, I would like the captions to appear within the video player area.  Is there a way to make this happen?  Users are expecting the captions to be within the video screen area.

  • Hi Michael,

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 86, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the new features we’ve included:

    • Position captions at the top or bottom of the slide to ensure closed caption visibility and prevent the obstruction of critical course content.

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • I also have a question related to video captions. I added the captions in Storyline 360. Then, I published it to a video. When I open the zipped folder, I have the mp4  but I do not see the captions document. Is there something else that I need to do?

      Hi Wendy,

      Thanks for reaching out!

Extracting the captions file from the published output is currently not possible. The closed captions in your project get encoded into a different format. Here's an example:

If you need to extract your caption files, you'll need to do so from inside Storyline 360:

      Hope this helps!
