Video controls not seeking/scrubbing?
Hi there,
My team is working on a few different storyfiles for a client, and I'm having a unique issue that my colleagues are not experiencing with the video controls on all my video slides. When I preview my course or publish it to Articulate Review, the video plays and pauses as it should, but I cannot seek or scrub at all.
I updated Storyline before beginning this project last week, and am running version v3.37.21453.0. This is happening across all new storyfiles I create, every time I open them, but only seems to be happening on my computer. My coworkers have not updated their apps to the newest version yet, so we are wondering if it's an issue with the update.
I've attached a test storyfile that is showing the same issue for me with a different, shortened mp4 on an otherwise blank slide. If I send a storyfile to my colleagues, they are able to scrub when previewing in Storyline or publishing to Articulate Review on their computers, but if I publish a course to Articulate Review and provide them the link, they are not able to scrub.
Note that if I press play while on the slide (not in preview), scrubbing DOES work.
We're hoping that once the project is finished, I can send it to a colleague who will then publish the file on their machine and we won't have issues with scrubbing in the published version, but I'd like to see if this can be resolved if possible, in case others are experiencing the same issue.
Unfortunately, since this is a client project, I cannot use the player seekbar as a workaround, as they want the classic player with all player features disabled. The issue is with the video controls that I have set to appear below the video on all video slides in the course.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi. I'm having this exact issue with the same constraints. I cannot enable the course-wise seekbar in the player (due to client request) And while I'm able to scrub through a video while in the slide, It does not allow this when reviewing. I'm working on version v3 107.35974.0. Kindly advise if there was ever a solution devised for this.
Hello JarredSmith-4f0 ,
Thanks for reaching out! I noticed you're using Storyline 360 version 3.107.35974.0. As a first step, I'd recommend updating Storyline 360 to the latest available version (Update 119) and then testing the course again. We regularly release fixes and improvements, and we always recommend working on the latest version of Storyline.
After updating, please let us know if you're still unable to scrub or seek using the video controls when publishing to a Review 360 link or published output. If the issue persists, we'd be happy to investigate further in this thread or privately in a support case.
Looking forward to hearing how it goes!

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately updating my storyline version didn't fix the issue. I have contacted support.

the current Edge has the identical web engine like Chrome or Brave or Vivaldi or ...
-> web compatibility should not a problem - but it is possible, that with group policy some features are modified or disabled
this would be not different, if your company would use Chrome or Firefox as browser - GabrielWistisenCommunity Member
Hu Jurgen!
We only use the newest version of MS Edge.

which version of Edge you use
- the original MS Edge Legacy (2014–2019)
- the current MS Edge (same name, but a normal Chromium-Browser)UPDATE:
Edge (2014-2019)
Edge (2019-today)

Hi Kelly,
Yes! We came to the conclusion that the videos don't work due to the browser used. Our internal company security requires us to only use Microsoft Edge, which creates many problems seeing as Articulate and Edge don't like each other very much... (with good reason, I really dislike Edge too) but unfortunately, these functionalities aren't supported.
I hope that Articulate will be able to work on these bugs so the platform can be even more universal, but in the meantime, I hope this is also able to help anyone else who may be running into these problems as well in the future!
Best,
Gabriel

Hi everyone,
I can see that there has been an update to fix this video-scrubbing issue since this was first posted, but as of today me and my team are working on the most up to date version of Storyline and when the videos put in our elearnings are published in our LMS or even to Review, the user is still not able to jump around or drag to a specific part on the video using the video controls.
Please help!!
Hi Vicky! Hi Ed!
A hotfix for Storyline 360 is live, and it addresses the issue where learners couldn't click or drag the seekbar on the built-in video controls!
You can explore the release notes here, and download the latest update with these steps. Let us know how this version works for you!

Hi Ed,
I'm so sorry to hear that message is popping up once you moved to an older version! Are you working locally, and have you tried going back to the latest update to see if it clears the error?
I'm pulling in our support engineers to see if we can help. Can you upload your file here for us to take a look? They'll test it to see if they come across the same issue and reach back out. We're here to help!
