Video doesn't pause when using Pause timeline trigger
Hi there!
There is an issue occurs with one of the latest Storyline update. I have a video on the base layer along with the seekbar. So I don't want to autoplay it and added a Pause timeline trigger to pause the video until the required action is done. And now the timeline pauses as it should, but the video doesn't pause and keeps playing.
It works just fine when rolling my Storyline back to April 30, 2024 (Build 3.87.32265.0) update.
Will you please check it out?
Attached a simple source file.
Thanks!

Hi JH24,
You're welcome! I'm happy to share that we've released another update for Storyline 360. In Build 3.119.37185.0, we addressed the following issue:
- A video on the base layer continued playing even though the "Pause timeline of base layer" setting was enabled.
To install the update, open the Articulate 360 desktop app and click Update next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
If you continue to experience this behavior after updating, please let us know and we'd be happy to investigate further.

This issue has begun to affect our team's interactive video template. The template functioned fine until the update today and now I can't get it to predictably behave. Sometimes when the timeline is paused in preview, the video will still play, sometimes when published it works as it is supposed to, sometimes it doesn't.
This will affect many existing courses on our LMS and I would appreciate a workaround.
For context, there is the main video on the base layer - a trigger is in place to show a 'launch' layer which has a play button (this layer's properties pause the base layer timeline, which pauses the video) - thie button hides the launch layer and resumes the timeline on the base layer.
As of today in preview, the video begins to play regardless of the paused timeline.- EricSantosStaff
Hello JH24,
Thanks for sharing those details. I understand how impactful this would be, especially if it affects existing courses that rely on your interactive video template.
We've identified a regression in a recent Storyline 360 update where a video on the base layer can continue playing when a layer configured to pause the base layer timeline is shown automatically when the timeline starts. Based on your description, it sounds like you may be encountering this issue.
Our team is actively working on a fix. We'll be sure to share any updates as soon as we have more information.

Hi
I just updated to 97 version. However, I still found that my trigger of using cue point to pause the video and show another layer doesn't work. The video just keeps playing. May I know if anybody has this same issue? Thanks.
Connie

I've updated my Storyline 360 app to the latest version, and I'm still experiencing this. I have multiple cue points on the timeline. The video will pause at the first cue point for an annotation layer to display. Then, the user clicks a button to hide the layer and continue the video, which works - but all cue points after the first one are ignored.
Hello BrianGlover-8e8,
I'm sorry to hear you've run into an issue where your cue points aren't displaying annotation layers as expected throughout your slide. I understand that can be frustrating. Thanks for confirming that you're working on the latest version of Storyline 360 (Update 111).
- Are you working and saving your project file to your local hard drive (typically your C: drive)?
- If you import your current slides into a brand new .story file, do you still experience this behavior?
- Is this happening with any other projects you're working on, or just this one?
As a troubleshooting step, I recommend confirming that your Triggers are set up consistently for each cue point on your slide.
If you are working locally and you are still experiencing this behavior, we'd be happy to take a closer look at your current .story file in a support case.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hello James and Andrey,
I'm sorry to hear that you ran into this behavior. I can confirm that this is a bug we are currently monitoring, and the identified workaround is to downgrade to Storyline 360 Update 87.
I've included this bug in the report so we can notify you as soon as a fix is released. We're really sorry for the trouble this bug has caused and we will update you as soon as possible.

Hi Jose!
Thank you for your feedback!
As I see I won't be able to downgrade my Storyline to U87 as the updates comes so often so it will be gone from the Update to Revision list.
Is it possible for you to share a direct link to the U87 so it sits at the hand in case I need it? I have many project with this feature which is still not working properly for the recent updates and it would be time consumptive to update the projects with the other workaround. This is out of scope, as it always does...
Thank you in advance!

This is happening for me too (newbie here using the trial). It works when previewing the slide but not when playing in timeline.
