Video files inflated in Storyline file
Hello I have a issue with large file sizes. I have a video heavy learning experience. My video content comes to about 320MB but once uploaded and I look in media library, Articulate has the total size at well over 400MB.
For example one video says it's 117mb in the media library...but the original file size on my computer is 75.2mb....
I need the total size to be under 400MB so I need to find out why they are inflating in articulate? Thanks so much
Hi Helen!
Happy to help with this!
To clarify, have you turned off video compression for the MP4 videos added to your course? Doing so causes published files to become larger. If not, you can try a tool called Handbrake to reduce the size of your video files. This article outlines the steps!
Also, it's helpful to keep in mind that Storyline retains temporary assets in case an author needs to click Undo, to restore them. The good news is your .story file will eventually shrink, usually after saving it a couple of times. You can also help it shrink by saving and closing the project file, then re-opening it and saving it again.

Thank you for the post, Helen!
When it comes to file size, which has more impact, videos and graphics or slide interactions with lots of triggers?
Hello BJ!
In most cases, videos and graphics would have more impact on the file size.
