What is the best way to import Content Library 360 Slides so they match your overall theme?
So lets say, I work for a government agency. We have a basic template that we are to use with our Storyline Slides so that things stay consistent with font, color, and overall feeling.
Well, this template is very basic. Therefore I'm looking to import Content Library 360 slides, which have some cool designs.
So lets say I import Four Column from the "Synergy" theme. It's in there, but nothing matches my current theme. It seems like I have a couple options:
- Edit each piece and box to fit my fonts, colors, and theme.
- Since that slide will bring with it it's own master slide, I go into slide master and mess around with that. Except that I am finding, I can tweak the master (so the heading is consistent, etc) but when I go back to that slide, all the colors of the text boxes and font styles are the same as they were.
I'm finding this all very time consuming... what is the most efficient way to do this? Curious what others' processes are. Thank you. (I've attached a photo to give you an idea of what I mean.

MichaelEtzel: If you reformat objects on the slide, that tells the program that you want to break from what's on the Slide Master. That means reformatting the Slide Master won't change those objects.
If you haven't reformatted objects on the slide, updating the placeholders in the Slide Master should also reformat the associated placeholders.
Imported Slide Masters also have their own Colors and Fonts, and those impact all objects on the slide. So those should be updated to match your branding.
Here's another "Four Column" example, this one from the Vitality theme. Here's the original imported slide:
This is what the slide looked like after I switched the Slide Master's Colors and Fonts:
It can definitely get crazy if you have multiple Slide Masters, so here's something else you could try:
- Select and copy every placeholder on the imported Slide Master (e.g., items on the Four Column Vitality layout).
- Go to your Slide Master, and insert a new layout.
- Paste the placeholders, and reformat them as needed.
- After you've copied all the imported layouts you want into your own Slide Master, delete the imported Slide Master.
Or perhaps just recreate the layout you like from scratch in your Slide Master. 😊

"Great question! This is a common challenge when mixing Content Library 360 slides with strict in-house templates. The most efficient approach I’ve found is to first align your theme colors and fonts in the Slide Master before importing. That way, when you bring in new Content Library slides, you can quickly apply your template’s design without manually tweaking every object.
Another tip is to use the Format Painter tool to quickly copy styles (fonts, shapes, colors) from your existing template and apply them across multiple objects—huge time saver!
It does take some initial setup, but once your master slide and theme colors are dialed in, reusing and adapting Content Library designs gets much faster. Curious to hear if others have found different hacks for speeding this up!"
