Which LMS do you use and why?
Hey all,
Just a quick question to you....what LMS do you use and why?
I use Moodle 2.1.2 currently. Why? It seemed like a good idea at the time! Now I'm frustrated with the SCORM reporting and interface.
Any thoughts?

Here at The SIP School, we wrote our own as we found that we needed speed of delivery for content worldwide...
It stores content securely in the Amazon cloud and the LMS manages access through our database. Full purchasing / Receipting options, secure access control with automatic password allocation. Full testing system with automatic marking . certificate allocation. Discount code control and the ability to white label. Interested?

We are on the Plateau/Successfactors/SAP product (currently at ver.6.3). We use both the LMS and performance management products. Our user base is around 17K people in various countries. It's a love hate relationship (as I think is the case with most any enterprise system). We haven't had any issues with Articulate courses running through it.
Since being purchased by SuccessFactors, we have noticed a decline in the quality of support. Not enough to make us move to another product, but we have had to have some pretty frank discussions with them.

We use Absorb from Blatant Media and absolutely love it! The Administration portal is so user friendly and the reporting capabilities are only limited by your own knowledge of using filters. You can even set reports to be automatically emailed to people on a periodic basis. There are many features of Absorb that we find very useful and the support team is great to work with as well.
I work for a casino company and we purchased the Absorb system over a year ago.I would be happy to answer any questions about the system if you would like to contact me.

Hello articulate community,
There is some really valuable input here and I will be sure to review most comments. I am wondering if someone can recommend an free open source LMS for me.
We currently do not have an LMS to record assessment and evaluation results, nor track participant progress. Our aim is to build a business case for our business to invest in one, but in the meantime I was hoping to use a free open source LMS to assist in building this case by providing working demonstrations of the benefits.
Can anyone assist with some reccomendations? Please ask if you need more info from me.
Cheers

Hello Damian,
I would suggest Docebo, which is open source, business oriented and with a proven track record of being used in hundreds of corporate projects.
I have been using it for 5-6 years with many companies. Among its strenghts, very robust reporting and statistic features.

It appears that some of these are LMS's and others are vendors of a different LMS. For example, unless I'm wrong (which is entirely possible) Lambda Solutions is a vendor who is a Moodle partner. Is this who you're referring to or am I not familiar with another LMS out there? If it's an actual LMS I'm interested in knowing more. Could you post links to some of these?

Hi Leah, yes Lambda does use Moodle. This is the Vendor list.

Overall, I think they have a good product. We've been on it for 4+ years. Our policy is that we do not do any customization and run strictly out of the box functionality (this was one of the smartest decisions we've made). For the first couple of years with them when they were Plateau, we were assigned an engagement manager and we were able to get great support and really felt like they were partnering with us.Over the past year and a half or so, we have moved into their general SaaS model using their regular support channels and haven't been as happy. We run a hosted solution and have had more bug issues with their last few releases. It seems like they have been pushing new features and focusing less on software quality assurance. The communication has also been less than stellar (them saying they were going to do something at a particular time so we prep for a system outage that never happens only to have them take the system down without telling us they are going to at a later time, things of that nature.)
If you are looking at their performance management tool as well, my personal opinion is that while it's very robust, it's overly complicated for your average user. Keeping in mind that our average user is going to touch their performance plan a few times a year, the system needs to be very intuitive and I don't feel like theirs is.
We are pleased with the tool and it suits our needs well. Their's isn't perfect, but it does what we need it to.
