Not able to install the Articulate 360 desktop apps in a (windows) virtual machine
Hi. I am trying to install the Articulate 360 desktop apps onto a (Windows) Virtual Machine, as I'd like to use the screen recording in Articulate Storyline to create training videos and manuals. (It's for training a new data capturing system). I log into my Articulate 360 account, navigate to the "download desktop apps" button, click that, then click the "start download" button on the pop-up, download the file, open the file, click run, click install and then get an error 800704EC. I've attached the screens. Am I missing something? Or doing something wrong?

Hello JeanievanderMer,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble installing the desktop apps. I appreciate you sharing the details and screenshots!
Error 800704EC typically indicates that Windows is blocking the installation due to permissions or security settings, which can be common in virtual machine environments.
Here are a few steps you can try:
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Temporarily turn off or add the antivirus/Windows Defender to your allowlist.
- If your VM is managed by IT, confirm that group policies aren’t preventing the install.
