Continue Divider to limit lesson access

I wanted to use a "continue" button to limit access to later lessons until a previous one was finished. When I insert the continue divider it will prevent moving forward if I am just inside the course and navigating through it, but it doesn't prevent someone from going back to the menu and selecting the next lesson without completing the current one. Is there a way to do that?
