Failed quiz allowing the user to earn a module completion

Apr 06, 2022

We've been experiencing a weird glitch with our final quizzes in Rise - in that we have the settings set to only allow the module to be marked complete after the user has completed 100% of the module - and only allow the user to advance to the last lesson once they have completed the quiz (to a passing score of at least 80%) - SO - this should mean that the user cannot advance to the last lesson without passing the quiz - and thus, cannot complete the module without passing the quiz - HOWEVER - we found when testing that we could fail the entire quiz and the module would be marked as completed.

I have attached screenshots of the quiz settings, the export settings, and the layout of the lesson. It appears that a user just has to open the lesson to get credit for it, and we're getting some very inaccurate reporting because of this. Hoping someone from rise has a solution...

Hi,

On the Export page you have three options to choose from:

  • Track using course completion: view a given percentage of the course contents
  • Track using Quiz result: Pass the selected quiz
  • Track using a Storyline block.

Note that you can choose only one of these options.

The current settings on your Export page requires the student to view 100% of the course to get a completed status. The quiz result is not taken into account at all using this setting.

If you want students to pass the course based on the Quiz result, change the setting from Track using course completion to Track using Quiz result.
