SCORM 1.2 imported to a LMS doesn't open

After importing the SCORM 1.2 file into our LMS (by Haufe umantis), it suddenly does not work for all users anymore.
Everthing used to work fine but now a lot of users experience the "grey screen" (see attached file) when they want to start the course through our LMS.

Other SCORM 1.2 files created with Rise 360 work fine and without problems.

What could the reason for this problem be?

    Hi Lena,

The blank screen typically happens in this scenario:

You create a Rise course and publish it to your LMS, and learners start using it.

Originally your course had 3 Lessons:

    • Lesson 1
    • Lesson 2
    • Lesson 3

When learners exit the course, their progress data is sent to the LMS for each of these Lessons.

Some time later, you make edits to the course, and delete and add new Lessons to the Course.

After you make edits the course now looks like this:

    • Lesson 1
    • Lesson 2 (deleted)
    • Lesson 3 (deleted)
    • Lesson 4 (new)
    • Lesson 5 (new)

Now when learners that have an in-progress status return to the course get the blank screen.

This happens because the LMS sends in-progress learner data to the course, the data structure that was saved for the previous version of the course no longer matches the structure of the new version of the course.

E.g. the course can't find Lesson 2 and 3, and the course just stops working.

  • Hi Karl,

thank you for your reply. The problem also exists for users who have never started the Rise course.

Is there any way to fix the problem without creating a new course in the LMS where I upload the scorm file?

Hi there, Lena. We'd love to help with this issue. Could you reach out to us here, and share your exported file? You can also include details like the LMS you're using and what SCORM format you're choosing when exporting. We'll keep your details private and get back to you with next steps!
