xliff files from Rise360: Blanks around HTML tags

Feb 13, 2023

Hi,

yet another question about xliff files, to which despite of my searches I haven't found an answer yet:

Reluctantly, I am using xliff files for translation of Rise360 courses. We use a software called Smartling, which reads the files OK and the output files can be imported into Rise. So far so good.

But during the translation, Smartling complains about blank spaces before or after HTML tags in the translation. I have to delete every single one of these blanks by hand, which is very tedious and time-consuming.

My suspicion is that these blanks find their way into the xliff file at creation by Rise360, but I am not sure as editing them is very confusing...

Has anybody seen this as well in their translation system in combination with Rise360?

Cannot tell if the Storyline-XLIFF files have the same issue because SL thankfully exports to Word, so we use those because they are much more manageable for us.
