Screenshot Management and Update Feature

OK - crazy idea. Imagine for every screenshot taken - specific data was saved to allow users to quickly find the original location of the screenshot - whether it's a web page, app, or desktop software - so they can take a new screenshot whenever software updates occur.

An example workflow would be:

  1. There's a software update.
  2. The user opens the course and clicks on the "Update" button for a screenshot.
  3. The system navigates the user to the original screenshot location.
  4. The user is presented with screenshot tools to edit and adjust the updated screenshot.
  5. The updated screenshot is saved, and the associated metadata is also updated.

I'm speculating for webpages - the URL, the size/position of the screenshot region could be saved along with the window size, scroll position, etc. so that the user could be taken right to the original screenshot location. There would need to be some authentication and session info considerations. For desktop applications, the app that was launched, window identification, and screenshot info could be saved and used.

This functionality might not be perfect but could help with the bulk of screenshot updates.

  • That’s a really creative idea, BrianBrowne-a3f! I can see how a screenshot management and update feature like this would save a considerable amount of time when software changes require updates. I’ve shared your request with our product team so they can consider it for future improvements in Rise.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
