Engage 360: Adding Pictures

Pictures reinforce learning and provide important visual context. It's a snap to add pictures to your Engage 360 interactions.

Adding a Picture

  1. Select the step where you want to add an image.
  2. Click the Picture icon in the media panel.
  3. Browse to the image you want to use and click Open.

Engage supports these image formats:

  • BMP
  • EMF
  • GIF
  • GFA
  • JFIF
  • JPE
  • JPG
  • JPEG
  • PNG
  • TIF
  • TIFF
  • WMF

Adjusting Picture Properties

After importing an image, you can adjust the properties displayed below it in the media panel. (These properties aren't available for media tour interactions.)

Position

Choose where you want the image to display in your published interaction.

Size

Choose Automatic or Custom.

If you choose Automatic (the default option), Engage will adjust the size of the image so it fits in the allotted space in your published interaction.

If you choose Custom, enter the width and height in pixels.

Mark the Lock Aspect Ratio box to keep the image from being distorted when you adjust its size.

Zoom Image

This option adds a magnifying glass icon to the image in your published output. When learners click the image, it'll zoom to a larger version—either in the current window or in a separate window, depending on your selection.

Tip: Images will only zoom when their original size is larger than the allotted space in your published interaction. In other words, if an image has to be scaled down to fit in your interaction, it can be zoomed. If an image is small enough to fit in your interaction without scaling, it can’t be zoomed.

Alternate Text

Enter text that describes the picture, and screen readers will read it to your learners.

Replacing a Picture

If you change your mind about an image you inserted and want to use a different one instead, click the blue text in the media panel (i.e., the name of the original picture file), then browse to another image.

If you want to replace an image with a different media type altogether (character or video), click the red X in the media panel to remove the image, then choose a different media type.
