Multiple Choice Quiz Makeovers in E-Learning #159

Multiple Choice Quizzes in E-Learning #159: Challenge | Recap

Multiple choice quizzes are one of the most common question types in e-learning and it's easy to see why.

They're easy to build, grade, and provide course designers a reliable way to assess a learner’s understanding and provide them specific feedback.

They can also be one of the dullest parts of the e-learning course.

Because multiple choice quizzes are so easy to build, they’re often the go-to question type when course designers are short on time and design resources. This results in predictable and unimaginative assessments.

But with a little creativity, multiple choice questions can engage learners. And that’s what this week’s challenge is all about!

Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to share one or more examples of how you’re using multiple choice quizzes in e-learning.

If you’re just getting started in e-learning, focus on working with form-based questions and convert to freeform’s Pick One and Pick Many.

NOTE: Your entry can be anything from a rough concept to a polished example. The challenges are open to everyone, regardless of experience or skill level. If you need technical or creative help with your project, please ask in our forums and reference the challenge number you’re working on.

It is the year 3085. The Habitrons have destroyed positive workplace habits. Your Mission - Destroy enemies, avoid obstacles, and rescue spaceships in five levels to reach Habitopia. Game and story inspired by the Atari 8-bit Blaster video game! Context: The course was converted from 30 slides with questions, feedback, and no design. It was a blank canvas with unlimited design possibilities! My goal was to increase interaction and entice learners to advance through the lesson. All assets were created in Powerpoint. After converting the course to Articulate, I used three ships to allow learners the option to choose which ship was theirs for blasting and set variables for level scoring.
