Presentations Freezing

Jul 24, 2020

I have been using Articulate Presenter 360 to build my training for a while now and I have consistently received the same help issue from my courses on Bistrainer.

The CBL content loads fine, the course plays through as expected but randomly, during quizzes, the CBL freezes and people cannot move past the feedback or quiz questions. This is a totally random event and to fix it, I have to reset the course on the profile and restart it, which is time consuming and very frustrating.  I do simple troubleshooting like checking browser to ensure Chrome is being used.

I have not attached anything as this is happening with ALL presentations, it isn't isolated to one in Bistrainer. Can you please help me out with why this is happening!?

So sorry for the trouble Chantel!

It sounds like a simple repair of Studio 360 might do the trick! You'll need an active internet connection to perform these steps.

  1. Launch your Articulate 360 desktop app by clicking the Articulate icon in your computer's system tray (beside the clock) or by double-clicking the Articulate 360 shortcut on your desktop.
  2. Hover over Studio 360 until a drop-down arrow appears, then click the arrow and choose Uninstall Studio 360.
  3. When Studio 360 has finished uninstalling, reboot your computer.
  4. Launch your Articulate 360 desktop app again, then click the Install button next to Studio 360. A fresh copy of Studio 360 will automatically install.
  5. Reboot your computer again and test your software.

Please keep us updated if this fixes Presenter freezing! If not, use this link to connect with a Support Engineer for further troubleshooting.

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I have completed the steps you posted above, however I do have a question:

I just installed Articulate onto this computer last week and this problem is occurring with courses that were made on a different computer using Stuido 360, published and then posted to Bistrainer. Was this a known bug with Articulate that was fixed? and will I have to re publish all my courses again to stop the issue from occurring?

Thank you.

Hello Chantel!

I don't see that we identified this as a bug as of yet, but we are happy to explore further. Could you help with these clues?

  • Does the freezing happen when previewing any course in Presenter 360? Or, does it only occur with the published output hosted in the Bistrainer LMS?
  • Working on a shared drive can cause loading issues. Let's make sure that the files are saved and published on a local c: drive.

If you can share a sample Articulate Package for testing, that would be gold. Here's how to create one. We'll test it in SCORM Cloud and delete it after. Simply use this link to share it privately.

Hello! Thank you for your reply.

The freezing occurs only in Bistrainer. When I test all my courses in SCORMCloud or in Articulate Studio 360- preview, they work fine.

I am working off a work laptop computer that I travel with between working at the office and working remotely. Whenever I am working in Articulate, I am saving directly to a folder on my Desktop, then creating the .zip file to this folder and then uploading to Bistrainer directly from there.

Hello there, Chantel!

Thanks for those clues.

You're taking all the right steps. From here, I'd touch base with Bistrainer to let them know that the freezing isn't happening in SCORM Cloud. They may give insight into what the LMS is trying to tell us.

If they have any questions or find an issue with Presenter's output, please give us a shout. We're eager to help!

This looks like the exact same problem I'm having with multiple courses.

We are using Chrome and it does not happen every time.  The only fix is to reset the bookmark / progress data.  Exiting the course and re-launching on a different machine produces the same outcome where the course does not allow forward progress after answering the question.

I have a minimal standalone reproduction of this that is accomplished by reloading the Scorm progress data value from a hung session.

I am also having the same issue. Anytime I select a link from the articulate ribbon, I get and error and ppt freezes to the point I have to close via task manger. I have run report on office 365 installed locally and have removed and reinstalled studio, at a lose. This has only started in past couple of days.

Hello Gene and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

The users above were experiencing freezing issues in the published output, but it sounds like you are having an issue within the software.

I see that you were able to contact our support team as well and you are currently working with Gren, so you're in great hands.
