Blurry pictures from PPT imported to Storyline

Nov 18, 2022

Can somebody tell me how to get pictures of documents to import into Storyline clear, instead of blurry?  You can't read the words very well on the documents I'm importing to SL.

Thanks!

Hi Stephanie,

I'm sorry you're having an issue with imported images being blurry. I would love to help troubleshoot this for you. First, can you give me more details on your situation?

  • Are you seeing blurry images when previewing or publishing? Maybe both?
  • Are the images scaling?

Looking forward to your response! Thanks for reaching out!

Thank you so much.  I have imported a slide deck into Storyline.  There are pictures of pieces of paper (flow sheets) for nurses to fill out.  The pictures of the flow sheets are clear in the PPT, but when copied/pasted or imported into SL, they are blurry in preview and while working live with the slides.  I don't know if they will come through blurry after publishing.  I can't publish the CBL until it is ready to go to the LMS team.

I've also tried grabbing the portion of the flow sheet I need with Snagit - again, clear in Snagit, but copy/pasting them into SL, blurry every time.

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for replying with your details! It looks like you may be experiencing a bug in the program where images are appearing blurry when imported from PowerPoint. This has already been reported to us. I'm going to add your voice to the report. If there's any news regarding this bug, this conversation will be updated.

Thanks for letting us know about this!

Hi, Caroline!

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue!

As John mentioned above, we're currently tracking a potential bug where images and texts imported from a PowerPoint file appear to be blurry in Storyline 360. To confirm if this is related to the issue you're seeing, I'd like to take a look at your file. You can upload it here or share it privately in a support case. We'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.

In the meantime, I also want to share some best practices for high-quality images and videos.  I hope this helps!
