It presents me with grey boxes but i'd like to change the colour but can't find a way to do it. There is no option on the edit drag & drop and the shap fill only changes the background. Anyone help?
Same here, I only find how to change the mouse over/drag state of the grey boxes (which is set in Design/Theme Colors), but not the grey boxes showing in normal state.
Have you tried just creating your own set of matches with a freeform drag and drop. You can customize the match and all of the other content? May not be exactly the same but pretty close.

It takes a little more initial investment in time, but in the long run may be worth it so you can customize to your hearts content. I would submit a request for the functionality but as far as I can tell it actually isn't supported. Seems to me like control 1 changes the back drop of selected items in questions like multiple choice, but the matching one are solid images. Sorry I couldn't help.

Looks like it isn't supported. It just seems a shame that something so simple isn't so simple
You can add a shape effect tro personalise it, you must be inside the connector you want to personalise to do this. I like the glow edge it allows you to make the boxes stand out.
There isn't a built-in way to resize those objects.
I think this would would be a nice enhancement to be able to customize this question type a bit more. The development team does take feature requests seriously, so if you have an opportunity, this would be a good request to submit.
In the meantime, perhaps a freeform drag-and-drop interaction would work for you project instead? You'd certainly have more control over the size of the objects and you'd be able to customize them as much as you'd like.

The state is somewhat faded from the original colour so I went with a tone that was darker than I wanted. I still ended up with 9 Custom Colour pallets by the end of it all though. Funny how you can't just edit an existing pallet--unless I'm missing something.

I know that for some...you can also play around but I hear it's normally the Control 1 that you have to tinker with.

Were you choosing to Create New Theme Colors each time? This would create the new ones.

Yes, this would be a feature request and you are welcome to share your thoughts with our product development team here.
In the meantime, I would advise that you utilize a Freeform Drag and Drop perhaps so you can customize how you wish.
