CSS file - can do in Lectora but not in Articulate. Why?

Aug 28, 2022

Hi team,

Almost every project I would use the option to insert a CSS file from within the project, and it would retain the custom CSS file. I would not have to go in the background source files to insert custom CSS each time the course was updated. This is the standard feature I used on every project to customise the course look additionally as a high end developer feature. This is built into Lectora for many years now, and really miss this feature in Storyline.

Currently the only way I can do this is to go into the source files and make adjustments. However it is written over each time when an update is made to the course.

Please can this be added to Storyline as a standard feature. I believe this should go next to "insert/web object".

many thanks.

that would be really useful, but i don't think articulate implements that feature
(it would require far too much explanation)

what you can do:

if you have changes for all your courses, you could patch (for modern player)

the global files

C:\Program Files (x86)\Articulate\360\Storyline\player\unified\index.html

and for LMS

C:\Program Files (x86)\Articulate\360\Storyline\player\unified\index_lms.html

index.html -> on publish ->  story.html

after every update of storyline you have to re-add the css-patches

Thank you, I know how to alter the exported source files already. My query is not to ask how to do that, but for the development team to simply add user interaction to queue a CSS file to the output. The custom CSS file can be protected from being overwritten when updating the course. This is something that can easily be implemented by the developers.
