How to generate current date and time?

Sep 23, 2013

Hi,

I want to know how to generate the current date and time that has to be displayed on the screen.

This has to be developed using variables. As I am not familiar on how to do this using Articulate Storyline.

Would be grateful if someone can guide me on how to do this. Will appreciate if you could attach source file my reference.

Attached is a screenshot of what I require.

Hi,

Thanks for sending me the link to the video. I tried out the steps as given, but still the date does not get displayed. Am not able to identify if am missing something. Attached below is a screenshot showing a blank screen.

I have attached the working file for your reference. Is it possible for someone to work on this and get back to me. Also please mark the errors that I have made as this will be helpful.

Will appreciate help from anyone.

Hi Palani

In the image it looks like you're using Google Chrome - we find during training that some javascript works and some doesn't if you are using Chrome. It's worth trying it in other browsers (IE seems to perform best for this), also make sure you are testing in your final destination - i.e. LMS - to make sure.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your guidance for this.

However, I need to get this to work in Google Chrome. Are there any settings that need to be activated to get this to run on Google Chrome.

I have another query. Please guide me on how I can send a feedback via email

How to feedback via a email?

I want to know how a user can type in text (for example feedback) in a text box, and then click a button to send a mail back to me. The mail should contain the feedback that the user has entered.

Attached is a screenshot of my requirement.

Hi Palani,

I found that if I uploaded your file to tempshare I could view it in chrome without any issue. Therefore I assume that uploading to an LMS will resolve this issue with functionality.

If, however, you are only going to use a web version for whatever reason I would probably reconsider using Javascript as, if the learner used a browser other than IE they would miss out on the functionality.

Hello,

All ze best for 2014...

I have exactly same problem than Palani concerning showing current date.

I can't see anything while publishing, and using Internet Explorer...

I already have a look to the tutorial video, but even being very careful, I can't find reason...

Any additional idea?

Hi, Anna.

Thank you for reaching out!

I'm not sure if you're asking a generic question on copying variables or specifically asking about the Javascript example in the video posted.

When you create the variable, you can insert a textbox with a reference to the variable (it will look like %variablename%). If you copy and paste that textbox to other slides, does it work?

I am not familiar with Javascript, so hopefully others from the community will chime in, but executing it on the first slide should still apply to other slides that reference that variable.

Let me know if this works!
