Next Button appears in Multiple Question Slide, even though I have disabled the Prev/Next Buttons.

Nov 16, 2022

Hello, I have added multiple question slides to my course and I have disabled the navigation through the prev/next buttons (attached image 1).

However, if the user makes the 2nd mistake and progresses to the next scene, and decides to go back with the Prev button, the next button appears by default and yet it does not work (attached image 2). Is this meant to appear?

Thank you,

Nassia

Hello Nassia,

Thanks for reaching out!

Have you tried setting the revisit behavior of your slides to 'Reset to initial state' so that each revisit of the slide is treated like the initial one? You can check out this article which explains how to change the revisit behavior of your slide:

Alternatively, you can permanently disable the navigation buttons of a specific slide by changing the navigation controls here:

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Joe,

I have permanently disabled the Prev/ Next, as I wrote in my first message. I cannot disable them from the whole course.

Changing to the slide to revisit to the initial state means that the learner will need to retake the test and I need to assess this change as a designer and if it serves the course. I will try it and see if/how it behaves.

Thanks,

Nassia

The nav buttons for question slides are tricky, because the built-in functionality will show PREV and NEXT when reviewed. But the default doesn't give you access to those buttons if you try to trigger them.

Here's what works to let you control the NEXT button on a question slide:

  • Use Slide Properties to add NEXT to the slide. This will make that button available in the Trigger Wizard.
  • Add a trigger that hides (or disables) NEXT when the timeline starts.
    • Add a condition, as needed.

Caveat: If you hide the NEXT button, be sure there is some other button available for advancing if the user revisits the slide but doesn't have to re-answer it.
