Player Menu Not Loading

Oct 07, 2021

When I click on the Player Menu as I need to remove the menu side bar, it comes up with 'Articulate Storyline Error Report' saying something went wrong! I really need to remove the menu side bar before publishing, can anyone help?

Hello, Holly, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ✨

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues when attempting to open the Player Properties. Let me ask you some questions to try to narrow down the problem:

  • Are you working from a local hard drive? Working on a network drive can cause erratic behavior.
  • Is this happening with a specific .story file only, or anytime you use Storyline?
  • Have you attempted a repair of Storyline 360? Here are the instructions.

If the repair doesn't solve your issue, or if it's happening with a specific .story file, I'd recommend opening a support case with our engineers.

Hi Maria!

We are working from a local hard drive and this issue is happening anytime we use Storyline even across different laptops/licenses. However, we are concerned that we have to save on the CDrive as if anything goes wrong with the computer, we have lost lots of work?

At this time we are reluctant to uninstall storyline before we know what impact this will have on the current packages we have saved, and how would this impact on our licenses?

Thank you for your help with this!

Hi Holly!

I have a few more questions, and I'd like to address some of your fears around the solutions that Maria shared above:

  • What version of Storyline are you currently using?
  • You mention that it's happening across different laptops/licenses, but is it the same project file?

Regarding the repair option shared above, your project files are saved to your local drive and are independent of the software installation. You'll be reinstalling on the same machine, so there will be no impact on your license.

Hi Leslie,

We are currently using Articulate Storlyline 3 I believe. I have noted that when we launch Storyline it is coming up with a notice saying 'Flash Player 10 or higher for Internet Explorer is required to run Storyline' but our IT department have advised Flash Player has not been supported by Adobe since December 2020. We are able to still work on storyline by pressing continue.

I can confirm we are working on different project files!

Thank you
