Coworker had the same issue after a Windows 10 update. We uninstalled Storyline 3, restarted the computer (probably not necessary), and then reinstalled the program. This fixed the issue.
I had this issue today after some Windows updates. To fix it, I opened Storyline 3 as an administrator (right-click on Storyline 3 icon and select "Run as administrator"). It opened correctly. I then closed Storyline 3, and reopened it normally and it worked correctly.
I still have problems even after re-installing and running as admin. I find I have to come here and hit ok on the site alert boxes before it will open (and before I can navigate this site as well). I think the alert boxes have to do with the certificate on the articulate site.
Thanks for jumping in and sharing what you are experiencing as well.
This doesn't sound familiar to me so I was curious if you'd be able to share a screenshot of that alert box that you mention acknowledging so that I can better understand what may be happening.
That looks like an alert based on the security settings on your computer or web browser. Your IT department should be able to help you disable or change that setting!
I installed the articulate storyline 3 and completed all the activation steps but I cannot open it. Initializing screen appears, but then that screen goes away and nothing opens. I tried to do all advises above but it is not working still. I use Windows 10 also. In this situation, what should I do to start it?
This isn't the exact same question but can't find a similar thread. I am trying to update my Storyline but am getting the error message that "Storyline is running. Please close Storyline before installing Articulate 360." I have shut everything down, restarted my computer, and am getting the same error message. Any suggestions?
Thank you for replying. I shut everything down and rebooted my computer but still had the same problem. For some reason, my computer thought Storyline was still running. The next thing I did was reboot with a Windows update which ultimately solved the problem. My concern is if there wasn't an update available, rebooting didn't solve it. I would have tried your suggestions if that was the case. I'll keep these in mind. Thanks!

Hi Jim,
If you're unable to open Storyline you could also look at going through the repair steps to reinstall it.
Just making a note for future googlers:

Hi there. Also look at >>this article<< if only for the wonderful support of the staff and humour of the clientelle.
Thanks for linking that here Adrian - certainly a lighthearted interaction to start the year.

Great troubleshooting! Glad you were able to get that corrected easily and thanks for popping in to share Wendy :)

Hi Gizem,
I replied to a similar question here.

Hello Theresa,
Thanks for reaching out—you've come to the right place for help!
As a next step, let's try a simple repair of Storyline to see if that helps: How to Repair Articulate Storyline 360.
If that doesn't do the trick, I'd recommend connecting with one of our support engineers here so they can lend a hand!
