Storyline Randomly Crashing

I've been having an issue lately (last week or so) with Storyline at random times 1) shutting down when I try to paste any object (text, shape, or image from either inside or outside the file), 2) getting the popup window saying something is wrong and a report can be sent to Articulate, or, starting yesterday 3) trying to save the file and getting the message "object reference not set to an instance of an object". 

I've reinstalled Storyline a couple of times, but the issue continues.  I'd share the file, but unfortunately, I'm 80% of the way through and the nature of the content won't let me.  

I'm tossing this out to see if anyone else is experiencing this a similar problem.

Every hour, I shut SL down and use the first or last 10 minutes of the hour to open my email app and check email. Then I close the email and start SL again. That really cut back on the number of daily crashes.  I also notice that with the latest SL and Chrome browser, if they are open at the same time, I get almost instant crashes that I can recover from only by turning the computer off.

Hi Jay,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this behavior. 

I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience. 

  • Are you working locally when making edits to your project file? Or are you working directly on a network drive? 
  • Do you have an application that syncs your folder directly to a network location such as OneDrive?

If you're working locally, I'd recommend doing a repair of your Storyline 360 installation to see if this helps address the frequent crashes. Additionally, I'd like to share this article which lists some scenarios which might cause you to lose your project file, as well as how to prevent them. 

If the issue persists, open a case with our support team here so we can take a closer look at why you're experiencing such frequent crashes.

My apologies for the late response, I took some time off.  

Yes, to both of your questions, I am working locally off of my desktop and my desktop is synced to my OneDrive.  

I've reinstalled storyline a couple of times but got the same results.  I've been focused on one course file, so I can't say if it's happening with other files as well.  I'll see what happens when I pick up the project again and will submit a case if the issue continues.
