As you noticed, I also had this issue previously. Have you tried working around it by saving the template file as a regular project then importing the 'template' slides into the new project as slides? They should bring the template masters and layout w/ them and those should remain after you have deleted the 'template' slides?
Yes, I tried that first. Didn't work. But I'll try again. Sometimes quitting the app and then getting back in "fixes" problems like that. :-) I'll let you know.
Hmm. Perhaps you could try that again with a fresh SL target file, except be sure you have made a few changes to the master/layout of the target file and saved before importing the template project file.
Also, you may want to check for updates anyway.
Other than that, it may be time for a support ticket.

Hi Allen -
Yes, I tried that first. Didn't work. But I'll try again. Sometimes quitting the app and then getting back in "fixes" problems like that. :-) I'll let you know.
Thanks -
Lerissa
By the by, which version of SL are you using?

3.64.277845 - the latest, right?
Hi Allen - this time it worked! :-)
Thanks -
Lerissa
Good to hear.
Like all software SL has its quirks but it is the best out there.

Dang. Now it's not working. :-(
Here's what I did:
The slides showed up, but no layouts or slide master.
Help?
Lerissa

Ah - I haven't tried that yet.
The template was created in 3.63.27674.0. That's a little earlier than mine. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Off to the the change-it-and-save-it-first strategy ...
and it worked! That's the secret: save first, THEN import the template.
Thanks, Allen!
argh. damn. it didn't work. I saw the scenes in the panel on the right and thought I was looking at the slide master view. :-(
ticket time ...
Ah, bummer. I was hoping.
Do keep us updated.
